Since SG-1 has been cut I've been mourning the loss of this awesome show. However (I'm sure this is old news to everyone else, I'm just slow on news) there's a *third* Stargate series in the making, Stargate Universe. Totally cheesy name, which gives me hope. =) I'm kinda sad that it won't have any of the characters from SG-1, but since it won't be connected to SG-1 or Atlantis at all, I can deal. =P I'm excited to see how far they can take it and see if it owns up to the amazingness that is SG-1. This new show has some big shoes to fill, but I have faith in the writers to make this as fun filled and captivating as they've made SG-1 and, to some degree, Atlantis.

So, we'll see. Sadly, this won't be out for a while, but waiting just makes it sweeter when it gets here. =D

Okay.. I finally gave in and wrote a little story that's been knocking around my head for the past couple of days. Takes place after the final scene of Unending. This is my first fanfic so.. please be gentle. =S I decided to opt for the a nice, safe PG rating. And I may be able to make a sequel or two to this if I get good responses. We'll see.

Meet Archimedes!!

I can't believe I found a male crowntail at walmart. Walmart! Of all places. I thought they carried all veiltails.

Anyway, this handsome man has a 2.5 gallon tank all to himself, equipped with a filter. I bought a heater for when I go up to school (I keep my room in the high 70s, so no heater's needed)

He's a fiesty little bugger. Especially right after I feed him. I got him these color-enhancing betta pellets and his color has already improved after only a few feedings, though it took him a while to start eating. He also gets a freeze-dried bloodworm or two every now and then as a treat.

I'm pretty attached to him already. Hopefully he'll be with me for a good long time. =)

Dunno what brought this on, necessarily... But I got into my head how much I miss my cats when I'm away at school and I thought "I need a pet at school.." But of course, I live in a dorm which doesn't allow things like cats (exceptions made for seeing-eye dogs).

My solution?

FISH!! I've had Bettas before. I got my first Betta, Adrien, when I was 5 years old, he lasted 2 years, as did my next one, Alex. The last two were comparatively short-lived: 2 weeks and 2 months. Ali, the 2 week  one, starved to death cuz I didn't realize they were finicky eaters and goldfish flakes aren't optimum Betta food (I was 8...) and Apollo was fine for about 2 months until my mom dropped him in the sink, which is probably what led to him getting sick.

So, I've already started looking at aquarium styles and sizes and I think I'm gonna get either a 2.5 or 3 gallon, which is the suggested minimum according to Betta breeders and most Betta care websites. I'm gonna stop in PetsMart next week and pick one up, and I'll probably go ahead and get a filter and heater while I'm there. I won't get the fish until I'm at school so I don't have to bring it on the 2.5 hour drive up there.

I have such a cute idea for the tank.. I never decorated any of my previous Betta tanks, cuz I didn't have money of my own to buy anything for the tanks. But anyway, I want to paint an underwater scene of some ruins, probably Greek inspired. It'll be a digital painting, so I'll be able to put it on a CD, take it to Kinko's and get them to print it off for me. Then I'll be able to put that on the back and it'll be cool. ^_^ And I want to get one of those tank decoration things that look like old broken columns. Just a small one, since I'll have a small tank, but I think it'll be right cute. Oh, and some fake plants. =D

I'm sure you also noticed, all my Betta's have had names that start with A. It's just something I decided to do when I was little.. And I think I'll keep doing it. Cuz I'm a dork. I've got a few I'm bouncing between... Archimedes, Atlas, Achilles, Albus, Aidan, and Amadeus. Leaning towards Amadeus.. but still not sure. (if anyone has any other A names, I'd like to hear them. =3)

Anywho... that's my fish story. =D Now I really can't wait for school to start!! Maybe my new roommate will get one too.....

Finished the 7th Harry Potter book. I must say, only book has ever brought me to tears and this one came damn close. I'm impressed.

Anyway, my thoughts on it... And since this is gonna be spoiler-ific, I'll put it behind a cut, though I dunno if anyone even reads my journal. Lol. Oh well, I haven't used the LJ-cut yet.

Well, I went with my cousins to see Harry Potter on.. Saturday? Yeah, that's right. Anyway, on the trip up there I got seriously sick. Still not sure why. I'm sure I caused about as much entertainment as the movie itself what with my running out of the theater every 20 minutes or so to empty my stomach.

Tmi? *evil grin*

Anyway, finally got home and my parents decide they want to see it too, so I go with them to the local drive in and see it (it was a double feature, too. We got to see Ocean's 13! Even though I haven't seen the first two...). This time, I got to see the scenes I'd missed the first time 'round. Good stuff, I tell ya what. I really liked this movie. A lot better than I liked the last one. Yes, they left out and changed a lot of stuff, just like they did with book 4, but they did a better job of it. Lol. The movie didn't feel rushed, like the last one did.

All in all, a good movie. Yay.

And I feel the need to do HP fanart.. but I have 3 pencil commissions and one personal digital painting to finish.

Ah well. Maybe someday. =P

And now I REALLY can't wait for the 7th book to come out. =D I didn't bother pre-ordering mine. There aren't enough people in my little rinky-dink, town that want the book for it to run out. I don't think anyway. There haven't been so far. =P

Other than that.. I've taken a strong liking to Disney and Dreamworks songs. You know how they'll make the version to put in the movie, then they'll record a different version. Yah, those. They're fun. =D The songs for "The Road to El Dorado" are really good. *dork* ^_^

Right well... I'm here. There are more than a few groups on livejournal that I frequent so I figured it was finally time to get myself an account... They're all fanfic groups too... So maybe.. hopefully, the writers bug that seems to be rampant in these groups will rub off on me and I'll be writing my own before long. =) That'd be nice. ^_^
